Now EE have announced the second version, unsurprisingly called the Buzzard 2. It’ll connect over 4G and you can get one for just £79.99 on pay as you go. Plus, if you buy one before January 31st you’ll get 100MB data free every month for nothing. If you want to go contract then it’s available from just £10 per month on the 4GEE mobile broadband plans. You get it free on plans costing over £15 per month and that’ll get you 3GB of data to play with.
The Buzzard 2 has an extra USB socket as a pass-thru, so you can still plug in your phone or tablet to charge it and the unit will light up to let you know when it’s ready to use.
EE INTRODUCES ITS LATEST 4G CAR WIFI SOLUTION:
‘BUZZARD 2’
14th November. London. EE, the UK’s most advanced digital communications company, today launched the Buzzard 2, its latest super-fast 4G WiFi in-car device, designed to bring high-speed connectivity to help facilitate in car entertainment, productivity and navigation without the need for expensive in-built solutions.
Available to businesses and consumers from EE shops, EE telesales and the EE web site immediately, Buzzard 2 is just £79.99 on pay as you go, with those purchasing the device before 31st January eligible to receive 100MB of free data to use each and every month. Buzzard 2 is also available on a range of 4GEE pay monthly mobile broadband plans starting from £10, and is free on plans from £15 (3GB) per month and above. Alternatively, for just £8 per month, it can be added for free to a customer’s 4GEE mobile Shared plan.
Building on the design features of the UK’s first 4G car WiFi device, the Buzzard, Buzzard 2 is able to be plugged directly in to the car dashboard’s 12v connection without the need for an adaptor so it never runs out of power. An additional USB socket also allows further devices to be connected to the power and charged during the journey, without affecting the 4G WiFi performance. Finally, an intuitive lighting system also makes it simple to identify when the device is switched on and connected.
Christopher Traggio, Director of PAYG & Connected Products, EE, said: “High-speed internet connectivity has become second nature for many families – both inside the home and on the move – so it can come as shock on car journeys when the children can’t access their favourite games or TV to entertain themselves.
Buzzard 2 creates a powerful 4G WiFi connection without battery drain – providing a great solution for passengers young and old, so they can check their newsfeeds, stream music, play online games or catch-up on TV in the car.”
Business users will be able get online before or after meetings from the car park, or provide in-car connectivity for their passengers – for example taxis and limousine companies can keep their customers connected whilst on the move.
Buzzard 2 harnesses the power of the UK’s biggest and fastest mobile network for the best in-car connectivity. EE’s 4G service now covers 75% of the population, 263 major towns and cities and over 2,500 villages and small towns, with the Buzzard 2 also able to accessEE’s 3G network, which also covers more parts of the UK than any others.
