Here we go, I’m on the hunt for cheap Chinese phones again. We’ve actually got a couple of handsets from the not-so-well-known manufacturers in on test at the moment and we’ll be bringing you a review pretty soon. Until then, here’s the Elephone P5000. It’s normally $239.99 (£158.67) but if you whack in our exclusive coupon code (EP5CN) it’ll bring it down to $229.99 (£152.04).
Unusually it’s the battery that’s the big selling point here – a 5350mAh unit.
The rest of the specs aren’t to be sniffed at though. It’s powered by an octa-core 1.7GHz CPU and runs Android 4.4 KitKat. There’s 2GB RAM, a Mali-450MP GPU, 16GB storage and a microSD slot for up to another 32GB. Although it doesn’t do 4G you get the usual WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and NFC. The screen is a 5″ 1920×1080 Full HD unit and there’s a 16 megapixel rear shooter with flash at the back coupled with the 8 megapixel selfie up front.
Here’s a video showing the phone off..
Dual SIM and a 3.5mm audio port also feature. It also looks like Google Play is installed out of the box. Head to Gearbest for more information. The coupon code we gave you up top expires on March 3rd.
