A lot of buzz surrounded YEZZ this week, mainly because they were discussing and displaying Project ARA components on their stand, but for me I knew they have a range of Windows Phones and I thought I’d have a play. On their display they had their existing Billy Windows Phone devices and also their new Monaco 50 and 47. I snapped a few shots of these rather intriguing devices.
Monaco 50
The Monaco 50 is a 5 inch device, that feels great in the hand thanks to the removable leather feel backplate. Spec wise it is pretty basic
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.2 GHz Quad Core Processor.
- 5″ HD Display at 720p 1280×720.
- Internal Memory: 8 GB.
- RAM: 1 GB.
- Cameras: 13.1 MP Rear, 5 MP Front.
- Dual SIM.
- Micro SD slot.
- 4G.
The Dual SIM, Micro SD, 4G, 5″ combination really seemed to work, the phone felt fluid in use and it would be a great budget device if and when it makes it to the UK.
Monaco 47
The Monaco 47 is the Monaco 50 smaller sibling. It was actually made available late last year, but none the less it is still quite a nice feeling device. Spec wise it is as follows.
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 1.2 GHz Quad Core Processor.
- 5″ HD Display at 720p 1280×720.
- Internal Memory: 8 GB.
- RAM: 1 GB.
- Cameras: 13.1 MP Rear, 5 MP Front.
- Dual SIM.
- Micro SD slot.
- Battery: 1750 mAh.
Despite the lack of 4G the YEZZ Monaco 47 still felt like a reasonable phone. They sure looked and felt nice thanks to the replaceable soft touch backs.
Overall I felt the YEZZ range of Windows Phones was pretty nice, they really could do with a higher spec flagship though. I just wish companies like this make their products easily available in the UK.
