Just a few hours ago Google were proudly showing this rather interesting shot of an Android robot relieving himself all over the Apple logo…
Now it’s all cleaned up and the location is free of the image now, although some devices are still showing it.
The “new park” in Pakistan was actually contributed / updated using the Google Map Maker program. This allows anyone to make “corrections” to Google Maps but these are meant to be “reviewed” by Google. Now, if you’ve ever “interfaced” with Google you’ll probably know that they’re not exactly brilliant at manually checking stuff, and this particular edit, made by contributor “nitricboy” was cleverly made in stages, as you can see below….
Presumably, because it was done in stages and the Google review process didn’t notice anything weird in each edit, the changes got through fairly easily. However, he or she has made other fairly obvious and crazy additions to Google Maps that have gone through the review process easily… why? How did these get through?
Either way, that naughty edit has gone now, but as far as we can see, it wouldn’t be too hard for someone to do something similar again.
