According to a report published in Business Korea, pre-orders of the latest Samsung flagships have been underwhelming in their own home market – South Korea.
Samsung started accepting pre-orders for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge from March 4 in South Korea, and like here in the UK the company is bundling a free Gear VR headset for those pre-ordering. Business Korea have stated that pre-order numbers have been lower than their predecessors.
There’s a few reasons given for this, including the fact that consumers no longer prefer to pre-order. The final price of the handset hasn’t been revealed in Korea during the pre-order process, so some have preferred to wait. Also the Gear VR as a pre-order gift from Samsung doesn’t seem to be enough to entice customers to buy the handset.
The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will go on sale in South Korea from March 11. Whether the sales of the S7 and S7 edge are better than its predecessors or not can only be confirmed a few months down the line.
