Come close dear friends, because I have a confession. My normal, “go-to” handset has (for quite some time now) been the LG G4. I’m a big fan of the thing, but since the Huawei P9 launch event I’ve had that phone in my pocket instead. I can qualify this by stating that all review handsets become my “main” handset while I review them, but this P9 is really impressive, I must say.
If our video review and camera test has whet your appetite, then rejoice. Rejoice my smartphone-loving people. Rejoice. It’s available to pre-order today from the Huawei online store – vMall. The 32GB P9 (in grey or silver) is selling for £449.99 and it comes with £50 of Jessops vouchers.
You might want to spend those vouchers on a 64GB top-end microSD card or perhaps to buy a drone and spy on the neighbours. Perhaps check out that illegal extension they’re building out of wood and plastic. We’ve seen them, we’ve all seen them.
Unfortunately you can only spend the vouchers on wall-art, photobooks and calendars. Perhaps take some nice pictures on your new phone and stick them up on the wall or something.
Here’s the meat. Basically, I went to the event in London last week, I’ve carried this phone round and even slotted it into my shorts whilst hammering around on a mountain bike. It’s got good battery life, a great camera and lots of little features that I really appreciated. It’s sleek, well designed and has a very premium feel. I like it.
The silver 32GB P9 and the grey 32GB model are now both on the vMall site.
Beware though, because the stock is really limited. There’s only about 50 of each colour for UK customers currently. We’re also hearing that the stock should ship “within a week or two”.
Update – Looks like the voucher offer isn’t appearing just yet but it should be online shortly.
