The Black Friday frenzy that has swept the US for the last few years has certainly made its mark on the UK. Not content to have one day of shopping craziness per year, Amazon is having a ‘Prime Day’ on Tuesday 12 July. The website explains what this is:
Prime Day 2016 is the biggest Amazon event ever – more than 100,000 deals worldwide, including thousands in the U.K. alone, exclusively for Prime members on 12th July
Prime Day is a one-day only global shopping event exclusively for Prime members. This year Prime Day will be on Tuesday, 12th July and will be the biggest global Amazon event ever. Members in the U.K. can shop starting at midnight (BST) with new deals starting as often as every five minutes.
With thousands of deals in the U.K. exclusively for Prime members, across nearly all departments and product categories, there will be something for everyone.
This isn’t the first time that Amazon has had a day full of sales, but the deals here are limited to Prime members only. Prime itself is great. For £79 a year you get access to the Amazon Instant Video films and TV programmes (which can now be downloaded for offline viewing), free next day delivery, access to the Kindle library and the ability to stream music for free. You can also add several other names to your family package, so that relatives can get free next day delivery too. I’ve had it for several years and it’s well worth the price.
There’s no mention as to what might be included here, but if past experience is anything to go by there will be some good deals to be had. You will need to be quick though – the deals start all through the day and are usually limited in numbers, so first come first served. If we get any more information about what sort of offers are to be had, we’ll let you know.
