EE have announced their latest own brand device called the EE Hawk.
The biggest 4G network in the UK has managed to bring mid-range specs to a low range pricepoint, and connectivity is at its heart. The EE Hawk features 4G+ network speeds, and in testing hit over 200Mbps at Wembley Stadium. In addition to this comes with 4G calling for better call quality, and if that was not enough, WiFi Calling for those tricky locations to make sure you stay connected.
At £14.99 a month, or £149.99 on PAYG, the EE Hawk gets you a HD 5 inch display with 13 megapixel camera and Octacore processing power.
Other key specs include 16GB of expandable storage and a 2500mAh battery.
The Hawk has some great specs, with a strong Gorilla Glass design that is great for anyone wanting a speedy phone at an affordable price. It’s powered by Android 7.1 (Nougat) and has a 5″ 1280×720 HD screen. There’s a 13 megapixel rear camera, an 8 megapixel front shooter and it’s driven by a Mediatek 6750 64-bit octa-core 1.5GHz CPU with 2GB of RAM. Around back is a fingerprint scanner and you get full NFC functionality for mobile payments via Android Pay.
Although there’s “only” 16GB of internal memory, you get a microSD slot too. The 2,500mAh battery should be good for 10 hours on a single charge. Head to www.ee.co.uk/shop for more details, but if you want one it’s just £149.99 on Pay as you go with a £10 top up, or £14.99 on a 24 month pay monthly plan with no upfront cost. Every Hawk also comes with a free pair of JBL headphones.
EE launches the Hawk – thesuperfast, super smart, super affordable 4G+ Android smartphone
Hawk from EE offers stunning design and flagship features at an entry level price
30 November 2017, London: EE, part of BT Group, today unveiled the Hawk, the latest EE-branded Android smartphone designed to offer customers the best of EE’s network technology, including superfast 4G+ download speeds, 4G Calling and WiFi Calling – plus great design at an affordable price.
Around 20%* of pay monthly customers in the UK are interested in smartphones at more affordable prices, rather than the higher price points of leading flagship smartphones, and the Hawk from EE makes many of the features associated with top-end devices more accessible to these customers.
Advanced network features
The Hawk has been developed with EE’s award winning 4G network in mind. It’s enabled with ‘Cat 6’ capability so that it can support 4G+ download speeds up to 300Mbps. The new EE smartphone achieved 238Mbps on EE’s live network at Wembley Stadium earlier this month. With access to such speeds, entire HD movies can be downloaded in just a few minutes and music albums in a couple of seconds.
The handset also supports WiFi Calling allowing pay monthly customers to call and text in more places across the UK, particularly where signal is hard to reach such as a basement flat or on platforms of the London Underground where WiFi is available. And with 4G Calling, pay monthly users can stay on 4G when they make a call, so they can continue to surf at superfast speeds while they talk, and can make and receive calls in more places – both indoor and in rural areas – when out and about in the UK.
Premium design
The Hawk features the 7.1 Nougat Android operating system for simple navigation and a host of personalisation options. It also comes with a premium Gorilla® Glass construction on the front and back which is both stylish and strong – perfect for resisting the knocks and scrapes of everyday life.
A fingerprint scanner is also included on the rear of the device for fast and reliable authentication, as well as NFC functionality to enable users to make mobile payments quickly and securely via Android Pay.
The Hawk also offers a 5.0 inch display with 1280 x 720 HD resolution for watching HD video in crystal-clear quality, plus 13MP rear-facing and 8MP front-facing cameras, making it perfect for capturing and viewing images.
A 1.5GHz Mediatek 6750 64-Bit Octacore processor and 2GB of RAM deliver all the power needed for running apps, playing games and multitasking, and the device also includes 16GB of internal memory, with the option of additional storage via a Micro SD card**. Combined with a 2,500mAh battery, the Hawk from EE can be enjoyed for a full 10 hours with a single charge, making it a perfect multi-media device for everyday use.
Sharon Meadows, Director of Devices from EE said: “We’ve built the most advanced mobile network in the UK and we want as many people as possible to enjoy the benefits. The Hawk gives customers superfast 4G+ speeds, 4G Calling and WiFi Calling, plus a range of features typically associated with flagship smartphones – all at a fraction of the price. We believe this latest addition to our EE-branded range offers one of the best value smartphone experiences available today – reinforcing our position as the number one for the latest handsets.”
