Yes, the A8, not the S8. The Galaxy A8 is a new mid-range device which fits into that uncomfortable “it’s a bit like an S8 but I bought the cheaper version” slot.
It’s a tad heavier than the Galaxy S8, but still has the 18.5:9 screen and glass on the front and back, but this has no real curves to it. The 5.6″ Super AMOLED 2220 x 1080 pixel panel isn’t quite as good as the S8 (by the way, there’s an A8+ which provides a 6″ screen). Here you get Full HD instead of the Quad HD on the S8. The memory is the same though (4GB RAM), although we’re expecting 32GB storage on this one (plus microSD) and a 3000mAh battery.
The camera kit on this comes in the form of a 16 megapixel rear shooter (f/1.7) and an 8 megapixel selfie shooter.
Voda have it on their coming soon pages right now, alongside the ZTE Axon M. No details on pricing just yet, but you can get it with their usual selection of Sky Sports TV, Spotify Premium or a NOW TV Entertainment Pass. Get more detail on the phone itself on the Samsung.com website.
