Remember the Honor Magic from 2016? We loved the thing and stumbled across it in Barcelona. It had a stand-out design which made it so much different to all the other slab-style phones that are available on the market. Trouble was, unless you imported it, you couldn’t really get it in Europe.
Now there’s a new one, announced just recently. The HonorMagic2. Yes, they’ve removed the spaces in the name for reasons we’re not sure of. As part of Huawei, Honor have built on the original AI-powered Magic, now adding a Magic Slide full-view display which gives a near-100% screen-to-body ratio. The sliding 6.39″ screen means that you don’t need a notch, and there’s an in-display fingerprint sensor so that none of the chassis is consumed with a reader.
It’s powered by HiSilicon / Huawei Kirin 980 processor with AI magic and comes with “mind-reading and machine-learning capabilities”. Yowser.
In addition to all the brains is a six-lens camera setup, again powered by AI, which delivers a “revolutionary photography experience.” This comes in the form of a 24 megapixel triple-lens rear camera and 17mm ultra-wide angle as well as retractable 16MP triple-lens front camera.
You kinda need to be in China to get this one though, so you’ll be looking to import if you want one elsewhere. Specs start at 6GB with 128GB storage and go up to 8GB memory for 256GB storage.
Also during the launch, Honor unveiled their Honor Watch. It has a 1.2-inch AMOLED round touchscreen and a double-sided strap. It becomes one of the slimmest smartwatches around and is powered by a dual chipset architecture. It can last 7 days after just one charge and comes with features such as real-time heart rate monitoring, precise navigation and health tracking. It’s expected to arrive in January 2019.
