Honor View20 Announced. Spot the difference?

We’re here live in Paris and, just now, the Honor View20 has been announced. Known also as the V20 (you’ll see the letter “V” on the back too, it’s got a few things going for it. For a start, there’s a selfie camera, but it’s actually in the screen. It sits in a tiny 4.5mm hole and is a 25 megapixel unit which also has some clever AR Emoji smarts. Around back, the news gets even better as a 48 megapixel Sony shooter ramps up the megapixel count to new heights.

The phone itself has a 6.4″ 1080 x 2310 pixel screen which is 398 ppi density and it clocks up a near 92% screen to body ratio.

It’s powered by Android 9.0 (Pie) and has the Huawei EMUI but is called “Magic UI 2” here. Storage-wise there’s no microSD slot, but you do get 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. Yes, 6GB. Add to that the HiSilicon Kirin 980 octa-core chip. That’s the very same one that you’ll find in the Mate 20 Pro. It’s got two 2.6 GHz Cortex cores, two 1.92 GHz cores and four 1.8 GHz Cortex-A55 cores. Mix in some liquid-cooled magic, slot in the Mali-G76 MP10 GPU and then add a 4000mAh battery that lasts for ages and, well, you’ve got one very, very decent smartphone.

The camera at the back is a dual 48 megapixel unit with a depth sensor – you can do AI-powered 48 megapixel shots which are woven together to produce an ultra-clear photo. The AI will also detect scenes and objects, plus you can compare prices on goods by just taking a photo of them.

In addition there’s a 3.5mm audio port (officially known as the “courage port” here at Coolsmartphone), Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX, dual-band WiFi, dual-band A-GPS, NFC, a USB-C charger and a fingerprint sensor at the back. It’ll also do speedy charging.

The price? For this flagship? Just £499 / €569. That’s for 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Images from the event below..
