So yes, today we saw a whole stack of Galaxy phones but there was, as Yoda almost said in Star Wars, another…

Yeah. That’s a bit amazing isn’t it? A 7.3″ AMOLED “Flex Display” and stacks of multitasking possibilities. This is a whole new category of smartphone and, although we don’t have pricing (expect a lot), you can pre-register here to find out more.
Update – We’ve been told that the 4G version of the Galaxy Fold is to arrive here in the UK on April 26th. The price will be around £1,515 and a 5G version is coming after that.
It’s a display which is half the thickness of a normal smartphone display and has a new polymer layer to make it bend whilst remaining durable and tough. Samsung have used a hidden enclosure and a gearing system to make this all possible, meaning that it will open smoothly and, like a book, closes flat with a click.
Because of the change in design, they’re moved the fingerprint scanner to the side (where your thumb is when you’re holding it) and there’s two batteries so that it’s weighted correctly.
With more and more people working and playing on their phone, Samsung wanted to create a device that adapted to your use. You can, like a normal phone, grab it from your pocket for calls and texts and more, then you can open it up for watching movies, presenting or working. It also comes with a new user interface to make this all happen easy thanks to a trick window system to open three apps at the same time.
The Samsung Fold will be available in Silver, Cosmos Black, Martian Green and Astro Blue. It packs a massive 12GB of RAM with “PC-like performance”. AKG stereo speakers and a Power Share system lets you charge other devices wirelessly and, just in case you’re wondering about that camera “problem” – no matter which way you hold or fold the device, a camera will be in the right place to snap a shot.
The Samsung Fold also pairs with Samsung DeX. You can get more info on the Samsung website, or head to the specifications below…
