If you are hankering after last year’s Google flagship from official channels i.e. Google’s own page, well it appears this can longer be done. If you pop over to the Google Store and search for either the Pixel 2 or the Pixel 2 XL, the devices are no longer listed. Only the Pixel 3 and 3 XL handsets are present.
This news is not surprising. The Google Pixel 2 range will be two years old, and in a matter of a few months the Pixel 4 should be on the horizon. Add to that the fact that the current 3 and 3XL range for sale.
Hopefully, this means that we can expect the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL to drop in price across the board. If Google is no longer selling the devices, it’s a good bet that the company is no longer making the devices, either. As such, you can expect lots of online stores to start doing fire sales of their last remaining product.
Despite being 2 years old, the Pixel 2 still has one of the best cameras available today, and the device will continue to receive security patches and Android updates for the foreseeable immediate future. If in doubt, remember that the Nexus 6P was still receiving security updates recently. It also is currently one of only a handful of devices that can run the first betas of Android Q, and should be able to run betas of Android R in 2020.
