O2 and Vodafone complete 5G network agreement

Here’s something we don’t normally get. A press release from two networks at the same time in a joint operation. Vodafone and O2 are teaming up to speed up the 5G roll-out by sharing sites across the UK.

It means that they will be sharing 5G equipment such as radio antennas on network sites across the UK. For you guys this is good thing, because it means you will get 5G quicker. For the environment and local residents it’s good too – less need for new sites and a reduction in the environmental impact.

Mark Evans, CEO of Telefónica (O2) UK, tells us..

This agreement will enable us to roll-out 5G faster and more efficiently, benefiting customers while delivering value for our business. It also importantly allows us to utilise the spectrum we acquired in the last auction very effectively.

Nick Jeffery, CEO from Vodafone UK, said..

We’re driving our 5G roll-out forward with this agreement, and taking our customers, our business and the whole of the UK with us. We can boost capacity where our customers need it most so they can take full advantage of our new unlimited plans. And it demonstrates our commitment to further invest in our multi-billion pound network in the years to come, helping the UK become a digital pioneer.
