Let’s jump right in with this one – it’s got a massive 6.57″ 1080×2400 pixel 20:9 ratio screen (~400 ppi density) and there’s a rapid HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G processor. This is octa-core and runs up to 2.86GHz. So, very bloody quick.
It measures 162.7 x 75.8 x 8.8mm and weighs 206 g. There’s Android 10 and the Magic UI 3 plus, as we mentioned with the Honor 9X Pro, no Google Apps.
At the front is a 32 megapixel selfie camera and at the back there’s a triple camera arrangement – a 40 megapixel f/1.6 wide lens, an 8 megapixel f/2.4 telephoto (with 3x optical zoom) and a 12 megapixel “ultrawide” f/2.2 lens. There’s laser autofocus and LED flash. Honor call it a “Matrix” camera and state that you’ll get cinema-grade videos plus amazing photos too
No 3.5mm here, so it’s Bluetooth 5.1 for your audio fun. There’s dual-band WiFI, GPS, NFC for your payments and USB-C charging.
There’s a side-mounted fingerprint sensor (side-mounted), a 4100 mAh battery (with fast battery charging of 40W to get you to 70% in just 30 minutes).
This is a proper top-end 5G phone, but it comes without those Google Apps. How people will feel about that remains to be seen.
Update – Article updated to reflect that Honor can’t confirm to a UK release.
