The recent OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro are really good phones. We’ve given them stacks of coverage and you can pickup the base OnePlus 8 for £599, which the base OnePlus 8 Pro starts at £799 for an 8GB + 128GB model or £899 for the top-end 12GB + 256GB model.
That’s quite a bit of money, so it’s good to see OnePlus CEO and founder Pete Lau announcing a more affordable OnePlus range.
In a blog post he states that..
We are bringing the premium, flagship experience that you’ve come to expect from OnePlus to a new, more affordable smartphone product line.
Now, this could be key. I’ll be honest here – the likes of Honor, who are now selling phones without Google Play, are going to suffer over the coming months. If OnePlus can offer up a quality phones with a “flagship feel” experience, they could sew up both ends of the market.
The statement goes on to say…
As we’ve grown together with our community, we know that there are many people who want a really solid smartphone that meets their everyday needs, and for a more accessible price.
As we have always done when we try something new, we are going to start relatively small with this new product line by first introducing it in Europe and India. But don’t worry, we’re also looking to bring more affordable smartphones to North America in the near future as well.
Let’s see what the future holds.
