Starting at a mere £219, this is the new Oppo A72 smartphone. For your money you get a 6.5″ 1080 x 2400 pixel 20:9 screen at 405ppi, Android 10, a Qualcomm SM6125 Snapdragon 665 processor (octa-core up to 2.0GHz) plus either 4GB RAM / 128GB storage or 8GB RAM and 128GB storage depending on the model. Both versions get a dedicated microSD card slot.
Camera-wise, there’s a quad rear shooter arrangement – a main 48 megapixel f/1.7 unit, an 8 megapixel wide-angle, a 2 megapixel depth camera and a 2 megapixel black and white lens. Up front is a 16 megapixel selfie lens.
Other details include dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC (for your contactless payments), GPS, USB-C charging port and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The battery is a long-lasting 5000 mAh unit with 18W fast charging.
It looks like we’ll be getting the 4GB RAM / 128GB storage version here in the UK, with Carphone Warehouse, Virgin Media and EE all stocking it.
The A72 also gets dual stereo speakers at the top and bottom for surround sound effects plus Dirac 2.0 Sound, video stability and a new “Ultra Night Mode”.
