A fancy new phone usually means new features that are only available on that device. However, the new HTC EYE Experience that’ll be part of the new HTC Desire EYE is also coming to the HTC One (M7), HTC One (M8), HTC One E8, HTC One mini, HTC One mini 2, HTC One max, HTC Desire 816, HTC Desire 820 and the HTC Butterfly 2 in the coming months.
The clever tech starts off with face tracking technology, so you won’t have to worry about moving your phone around during video conference calls. You’ll be positioned perfectly in the frame no matter how much you jiggle around. If there’s more than just yourself in frame then the EYE Experience can track up to four people.
A new “Split Capture” function lets you combine images from the front and the back cameras on your device into a split-screen image or video. HTC tell us that you could perhaps use this to ..
..document your journey and your reaction without relying on thumbnail views.
Other tricks include “Crop-Me-In” to crop the image of yourself from the front camera and add it to the image / video from the rear. There’s also an audio trigger for taking selfie shots – if say “cheese” it’ll take a snap. You can also say, “action” and it’ll start a video recording.
Just to top it all off, there’s a weird “Face Fusion” system which can blend two faces together. You could perhaps use this to take a snap of you and your partner to have a look at how your kids might look. Bonkers yes, but it’s a bit of fun isn’t it 🙂
