Everybody used to have Angry Birds installed on their smartphone at one point. Now things have changed a little, at least in my opinion. Anyway, despite a FEW Angry Birds versions in-between (y’know, like Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Rio, Angry Birds Space, Angry Birds Star Wars and Star Wars II, Angry Birds Go!, Angry Birds Transformers and Angry Birds Fight) they’ve today launched the…errr… second Angry Birds – cunningly entitled “Angry Birds 2”
The slingshot is still there, as are the lovely smooth graphics and sounds, but now there’s spells and a “Destruct-O-Meter”, plus you can challenge gamers across the globe.
New characters will be joining familiar faces, with a new bird called “Silver” who apparently grew up in “pig captivity” and has (I quote) “a unique understanding of piggy ways – making her a cheeky and powerful new member of the flock”.
Well, OK if you say so.
Rovio co-founder Niklas Hed said some words to us which seemed great but we didn’t really comprehend what he was going on about….
Design technology has evolved dramatically since the original game launched in 2009. (In) Angry Birds 2 we wanted to bring a level of expressive depth and detail seen previously only in a console game or animated series – and create a new game that kids and adults alike won’t be able to put down.
We think he means, “the graphics are better, download it, please, we’ve been working on it for ages. I’ve not seen my family for days. Oh and please don’t mention the in-app purchases”. If that’s you, head to the App Store or Google Play. Windows Phone users need to just look on in envy yet again.
