For those few of us using Windows Phone devices it is time to rejoice! At long last it would appear that The Big Red Button is about to be pressed and the Windows 10 Mobile update will be pushed to existing Lumia handsets this month. Microsoft has had a fairly torrid time of Windows 10 Mobile so far, with lots of problems reported on newer Lumia handsets. Now a number of different reports suggest that the wait is almost over. The same reports suggest that this will be a passive update: in other words, users will need to go into their settings and manually check for an update, rather than any message appearing to say there is one ready to be installed. It might be that certain handsets will need a smaller firmware update before the final Windows 10 Mobile update can be installed. In any case, the latest version of the mobile OS brings a great number of improvements to WP8.1, including the oft-cited universal app store. No details have been provided on when and which handsets will be updated, though Vodafone Italy stated recently that it will be arriving on Lumias 535, 635, 830, 930 and 1020; while Vodafone Australia reported that it would be coming to Lumias 640, 640XL, 735 and 930. As soon as we hear any more you’ll be the first to know.
