Most of us like listening and sharing our music, however there was a time when small pocket-sized speakers provided half-hearted, tiny, and rather poor audio. But that was a long time ago and technology moves on, so perhaps things have improved.
Enter then the KitSound BoomCube, a device promising deep and fuller audio. Let’s see how these claims hold up.
Truly Pocket Sized Speakers
The KitSound BoomCube Speakers only measure 7 x 7 x 7 cm, and weighs a relatively small 207 grams, so this really is an ultra-portable speaker, yet is manages to remain stylish with its metallic finish and rounded corners. It is available in a choice of three colours Black, Gun-Metal & Rose-Gold.
These speakers are designed to be ultra-portable yet they are also very sturdy, and will stand up to the rough and tumble of being carried in a bag.
It’s fair to say that the BoomCube looks at well in either mobile environments or in a fixed place in the home.
Sound Quality
So we’ve established that these speakers are stylish and portable, but how do they sound? I’ve never made any secret that I enjoy the KitSound sound, which is warm and deep, and generally KitSound kit generally pushes sound out to create a wide broad soundstage.
Coming into a KitSound review I always have a very high expectation, but these speakers sound very good indeed, with the 45 mm drivers delivering 3W of high-quality sound. To help with quality, KitSound has added a ‘bass radiator’ to the design to add additional deep tones to the output. And volume isn’t an issue as the BoomCube speakers are also loud, easily filling my kitchen with good quality sound.
What is also a nice change for ultra-portable speakers is that the output doesn’t distort when the volume is turned up to full, a common fault of some small speakers.
The KitSound BoomCube can be used for BlueTooth and Aux input, so can be used for both wireless and old school wired connectivity, which should cover most of your requirements for the consumption of music from your device.
Of course, as this is a mobile device you’ll need to remember battery management, but the battery capacity means that a 2 hr charge using a Micro-USB connection should give you up to 6 hrs of playback.
In conclusion
The KitSound BoomCube is a great sounding and stylish portable speaker, Perhaps the most surprising element is the cost, as this little beauty only costs £19.99 which I believe represents great value.
If you are looking for a portable speaker, then check out the KitSound BoomCube. I don’t believe it will let you down.
