The Huawei P30 Series expands. Welcome, the P30 Lite.

Yes, it looks a bit like the Honor 10 lite but this is actually the new Huawei handset and, like the upcoming Honor 20 Series, Huawei have a numbered series of handsets too.. errmm.. and this is the P30 Series. Confused yet?

Well, following the excellent P30 Pro and P30, this is the P30 Lite. It comes with a rear camera setup that should capture super-sharp photos via that 48 megapixel image sensor. It means that you can zoom and still get clear shots, plus there’s a 120° Ultra-Wide Angle lens for capturing expansive landscapes and 22 different categories which get detected with AI so you get colour, lighting and contrast setup automatically. This basically means that you have a 24 megapixel wide-angle (f/1.8 aperture), an 8 megapixel ultra wide lens and a 2 megapixel Bokeh lens. Up front for your selfies, a 32 megapixel shooter.

The P30 Lite also includes beings us custom video ringtones by letting you set your favourite video as the ringtone for different contacts. It also has AR translation, GPU TURBO 2.0, 9V2A Quick Charge, a 3340 mAh battery and 4GB RAM with 128GB storage. There’s a 6.15″ FHD screen with dewdrop notch running at 2312 x 1080 pixels (415 ppi).

Running Android 9.0, it also has 4G, WiFi, GPS but alas, as we’ve seen before on these budget models… no NFC. So no contactless payments. The Honor 10 Lite has NFC if you’re interested…

The P30 Lite is powered by a Kirin 710 octa-core CPU (4 x Cortex-A73 2.2 GHz + 4 x Cortex-A53 1.7 GHz).

It’ll be available to buy from May 10th at Carphone Warehouse, EE, Three, O2, Vodafone, John Lewis and Argos for £329.
