This is a new phone from the mobile phone company that is dedicated to helping seniors live a better life.
Most modern phones are confusing and fiddly, so Doro is determined to deliver the same tech to the elderly but in a more approachable and simpler package. With a growing elder popularion, they’re eager to develop the phones and the services which make daily life simpler.
We’ve taken a look at them for a number of years, since 2012 in fact, and saw them in Barcelona back in 2013.
Today they’ve launched this, the new Doro 8080 and it looks more like a smartphone than ever. However, Doro have added their own unique touches – a redesigned navigation system, Google Assistant, an Alarm button and remote support via the MyDoro service and more.
Specs include a Qualcomm 439 CPU (2GHz octa-core), 3GB RAM, a 16 megapixel camera, extra loud ringtones, 4G, an ICE (In Case of Emergency) system, 32GB of internal storage (there’s a microSD slot for more), a 5.7″ 1440×720 screen with enhanced font, text zoom, 3.5mm audio port, 3200mAh battery, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC and a chargin cradle to make recharging easy. There’s a 5 megapixel selfie camera here too.
Available to buy on Amazon in either black or white, this is £350 and you might well see it on MVNO’s such as Tesco etc too.
Doro is the market leader in phones for the over 65s, and this phoen again has the easy-to-read display. There’s also a loud and clear sound with a boost button function, instantly raising the volume by 20 per cent whilst preserving sound quality.
More than that, Doro are specalists in getting remote assistance via the phone, and the “My Doro” system allows friends and relatives to adjust settings on the Doro 8080 using their own iOS or Android phones. Doro have yet again included their “Assistance button” which has GPS positioning, giving users and their families peace of mind, wherever they may be.
