It’s been a couple of months since we saw the Fairphone 3 announcement and Sky Mobile have already bagged it, but Vodafone are joining the party too.
Vodafone have announced a strategic partnership with Fairphone in order to deliver “the more ethical, reliable and sustainable Fairphone 3” before the end of this year. Customers in the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain and Ireland will be the first to get it.
The new Fairphone 3 aims to build on the fairer, more sustainable electronics which Fairphone have been famous for. The phone itself is a durable, modular Android smartphone which tries to reduce our “throwaway culture” by making it ultra-easy to swap and repair the screen, battery and camera etc. The company encourages the re-use and repairs, as you can see in the image below..
It runs on Android 9 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 64-bit Octa-Core 1.8GHz CPU. There’s an Adreno 506 GPU, 64GB of internal storage, a microSD slot, 4GB RAM and a 3000mAh battery. The screen is a 5.65″ 18:9 2160 x 1080 resolution unit with a 427ppi pixel density.
Around back is a 12 megapixel, up front is an 8 megapixel unit. It also has dual-band WiFi, NFC, GPS, 4G connectivity, Bluetooth and a 3.5mm audio jack.
