On checking through the Three Blog tonight on a very interesting post about the future of the network and where the company are moving forwards, one of the team ‘Kaz’ has posted a reply to a comment from a customer which you can see below.
At present Vodafone offer their ‘Sure Signal’ box for £50 which gets plugged into your home WiFi connection and gives you your very own mast at home or the office to use.
O2 are testing the same technology under the name ‘BoostBox’ and we actually have one in the house at the moment testing for O2 and so far it works great.
The issue Three have is as they only have a 3G network at 2100Mhz whilst outdoor coverage is great, sometimes you struggle to get a signal indoors and this product will help get around that.
With deals such as The One Plan, All-You-Can-Eat data allowances, some of the best phones on the market today and an award winning HSPA+ network which will be getting even better in 2012, Three are a company to really watch in the new year!.

Interesting that so many carriers are looking at these devices to help boost their signal inside people’s homes/offices. I’m not sure that we as consumers should be accepting the steep prices that these devices are being sold at. Surely one expected level of service from a carrier should be service levels…….we shouldn’t need to have these as additional costs in my view.
Interesting though Dan.
Thing is Three offer some leading products such as HSPA+ and AYCE data plans. For the sale of a £50 box at home to keep these kind of services i would be more than happy. Lucky for me im not in that position though and have a mast near my house so get 10mb speeds
Visiting a relative over Christmas who has a voda femtocell, I was looking forward to seeing how it worked. Unfortunately the BT line went down on Christmas Eve and left us with no broadband and no wi-fi. Doh!
As I am on 3, we managed to do some tethering to get the essentials done, (registering a new Kindle etc, which otherwise would have rendered some gifts useless), so thank goodness for Three!
Although better signal quality at home than previously with Orange, I wouldn’t mind having a booster as well.
