Despite intense media advertising, incredibly cheap price plans and attempting to reduce the cost of handsets, Hutchinson is stuggling to shift their 3G handsets on their “3” network.
City analysts estimate the company has probably signed up less than 100,000 users. This gives them a huge gap to fill if they are to even get near an end of year target – currently set to one million subscribers.
Hutchinson is also disappointed that the majority of customers aren’t flashy business-men and women, but regular punters who sign up but don’t spend much. Hutchinson is also fighting the picture / MMS services, plus “3” uses big bulky handsets which fail to attract customers.
