The original Motorola Xoom is now down to just £249. For that you get Android 3.0 (Honeycomb), 32GB of storage, a 10.1″ LED screen and it’s powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 2 Dual-core CPU. Andrew Farquhar has just mailed in because he used the code “TABLET10” to get 10% off, knocking it down to £225.
Not a bad price for a tablet which is getting Android 4.0 delivered right now. The Motorola Xooom 2 HD (16GB) is up for £379.99 and you can use the same voucher if you’re after that. The deal seems to be the same across Currys and Dixons.

This sounds excellent, especially with ICS being rolled out. I’ve been looking at various tablets, deciding that 10″ has to be the size to go for. My choices hasve been Samsung Tab 10.1, Sony Tablet S, but now this really is a contender, mainly due to the price. Online videos seem to show it run really well with ICS.
I assume office type software is available. I’ll mainly use a tablet for viewing word/excel documents on the go and in meetings rather than lugging round a laptop.
The xoom will run office software no problem, as will nearly any android tablet. Must say, it was the price that sold me on the xoom. Quite like the Sony, its really nice in the hand – though there is no hdmi. The galaxy tab is really well put together and has an excellent screen – though no expandable storage. The xoom is a good all rounder, but is a little heavy and the screen isn’t the best around – it is however soooo cheap. I haven’t found a tablet yet that is without compromise – so I bought the xoom.

I’ve reserved a Xoom at Currys Macclesfield, but currently at the full price (£249), has anyone any idea if the 10% discount will work in store?
Perhaps Andrew Farquhar could confirm?

The 10% code is online only I’m afraid. Might be worth asking if you can use it instore though, in case you get a friendly sales rep.
Thanks Andy. Dixons have no stock, and Currys do not allow home delivery, only reserve and pick up. I’ll ask when I get there, still £249 is still a very good price for a tablet which should have ICS soon. The only real negatives I’ve seen are about the weight.

Actually its currently back in stock with Dixons. Not sure if the code still works though. The weight is only around 130g more that the ipad2. Nothing to really worry about in my opinion, I’m sure some people would disagree though.
I got it from Currys at lunch. They wouldn’t accept the discount code, said it had to be ordered online, I said it was ordered online but the only option then was to pick it up, from store, home delivery was not available. The assistane apologised but said there was no way he could enter the code. I’m still impressed with £249!
Anway, I have it now, it’s on charge, then I’ll start to play, do any updates required, and set-up my email etc.
