The return of the SMT 5600!

It seems that the Audiovox SMT 5600 is down, but by no means out. We’d always suspected that Cingular, after swallowing up AT&T, would test and re-introduce the Windows-Powered Audiovox SMT 5600 – now this Engadget.com story seems to support it.


As you may or may not know, the Audiovox SMT 5600 is the twin sister of the SPV C500 which is on sale here in Europe. When Cingular took over AT&T… ahem.. I mean “merged” with AT&T, the phones got ripped off the shelves. However, it looks like Santa has stashed the SMT 5600’s in his sack and is getting ready to hand them back out again once Cingular have given them their stamp of approval. Strewth…. I nearly got lost in that whole Santa Claus analogy there.. perhaps I should have used a “Thanksgiving” analogy instead for our US friends?

Wait, let’s just tell those of you who aren’t aware about this. It’s a very interesting story y’see. Thanksgiving is a US holiday which started when the first US settlers arrived on Plymouth Rock on December 11, 1620. Their first winter was devastating and almost half of the people who arrived on the Mayflower ship died. However, with the help of a lot of native Indians the Pilgrims survived their first year. The Pilgrims would not have made it through the year without the help of these kind native Indians. The original feast was a bit like a traditional English harvest festival. Errmmm.. now…. all you have to do after this is airbrush from history the whole “killing of the native Indians” later on in US history.. If you’re interested in more information, click here. Again, please don’t email in – I’m only poking fun.. After all, we in the UK celebrate “Bonfire Night” every November 5th – and that’s all about some nutter who wanted to blow up Parliament !!! How un-politically correct is that?

Where the HELL was I ? Ahhh bollox… SMT 5600 – coming back, yay. Therefore my previous story here is now old news.
