The sheer amount of handsets over on the ZTE stand is almost mind-boggling. We managed to hunt down their new ZTE Era for a bit of hands-on time. Unfortunately the battery was flat, but we consoled ourselves with some serious up-close action (OK, I need some sleep now).
Announced just yesterday has a NVIDIA quad-core 1.3GHz CPU, 4.3″ QHD (960×540) screen, 8GB of RAM and an 8 megapixel camera plus a VGA one up-front for video calls which we weren’t aware of earlier. It’ll pack the Mifavor GUI (yes, the one that got announced today but we posted about yesterday) and will run Android 4.0 out of the box. Other specs include FM radio, GPS, WiFi, HD Voice, DLNA, UMA and Dolby
Over the years here at Mobile World Congress I’ve seen ZTE return again and again. Although some of their devices haven’t matched up to European standards, I’m seeing a definite shift this year – the Era appears to have an aluminium chasis and has a definite strength and quality feel. Sure, there’s a certain element of “borrowed design” but they’re definitely moving on quickly.
