So, you’ve got the major players here in Barcelona. HTC, Samsung, LG, Motorola, Nokia and the new boys – Sony Mobile. Then there’s the people close behind, Acer, Asus, Huawei and ZTE are becoming more well known. Huawei in particular have been behind a lot of network-branded kit for some time. Got a 3G dongle? It’s probably a Huawei one.
But then we have some familiar names entering Europe with their mobile devices – Panasonic, Fujitsu / Toshiba and Sharp have their own game plan lined up and they’re definitely worth keeping an eye on.
Today, on a stroll past a rather barren Microsoft stand, I spotted this brightly-coloured Fujitsu handset – the IS12T. It’s not a familiar phone to us here in Europe, and it’s not a new handset either – this launched in August last year. Confusingly it’s actually branded as a “Toshiba”, which is actually due to it being part of a joint venture between the companies. Fujitsu have now bought out the Toshiba share and plan on going into Europe with guns blazing later this year.
Specs-wise this has a 1GHz CPU, 4″ screen and 32GB of on-board storage. But hey, that’s not the best thing – it’s bright pink, right?
The big players are all producing quality devices, constantly innovating and delivering phones that are selling well, but they must keep an eye on others, because they’ll all be more than happy to grab a slice of the mobile pie.
We got a quick hands-on with the device in the video below, although it was shackled somewhat. 🙂
