It’s time for a bit of close-up photo-time with the Xperia P. We were there for the launch so we figured you’d like a few more pictures, just because we can.
As we mentioned earlier, the Xperia NXT phones have different screen sizes. The Xperia S has a 4.3″ screen (720×1280), this Xperia P has a 4″ and the Xperia U gets a 3.5″.
The Xperia P has a really strong and smooth aluminium unibody design, just like the HTC One V we saw earlier. It also brings us something called “WhiteMagic”. This gives a great viewing experience no matter where you are according to Sony, and changes the brightness according to the surroundings. We’re not entirely sure how this differs from a normal light sensor, but they reckon it’s great. As with all the NXT phones you get the Mobile BRAVIA Engine on board too.
Other specs include a 1 GHz dual-core processor, 16GB flash storage, 8 megapixel camera (instead of the 12 megapixel on the S and the 5 megapixel on the U), front-facing camera (VGA), HDMI out, DLNA, NFC and it’s available in silver, black and red. All of the new Sony NXT phones showing here are micro SIM and have no microSD expansion. This is a growing trend and one we’ve seen with the HTC One Series.
Again, this will launch (and is shown here) with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) but they’ll upgrade it to Ice Cream Sandwich in the second quarter of 2012.
