Earlier on in the year Acer announced a budget Ice Cream Sandwich device called the Liquid Glow and it was due to be released in a selection of colours. Retailer Expansys now has the Black and White models in stock and the price is definitely a wallet friendly £147.99 inc Vat.
The spec for the Liquid glow is as follows.
- Display – 480 x 800 pixels, 3.7 inches (252 ppi pixel density)
- Memory – Card slot microSD, up to 32 GB
- Internal Memory – 1 GB, 512 MB RAM
- Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot
- Bluetooth with A2DP, EDR
- NFC
- Camera – 5 MP, 2592 x 1944 pixels, autofocus, LED flash
- OS – Android OS, v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
- CPU – 1 GHz

So a mixed bag of pro ands cons with this one. Micro SD slot, NFC and Ice Cream Sandwich are definitely plus point for the Liquid Glow. The CPU and the Ram are the most obvious cons for the device. But as a second device or a phone for a teenager or wife this would be ideal.
The budget range is definitely heating up at the moment with the G300, the ZTE Grand X, the HTC One v and the Desire C all around the same price point.
That is a not too bad device. Looks a bit similar to the Xperia Ray, similar spec too. Good price. 1ghz is OK, it runs ICS just fine, the gig of ram is the killer though, even with my Ray rooted so I can send most of the apps to the SD card it is full up, I am constantly juggling apps.
Ideal as a phone for a teenager, ha, don’t make me laugh, my daughter is 16 and she wouldn’t be seen dead with anything less than a Galaxy or iPhone, she has the SII at the mo and is badgering for an upgrade even though she still has 6 months left to go.
It’s one of the reasons I have the Ray and PayG!
What do you mean ideal for the wife? Do you mean wives could not handle the power of a ‘proper’ smartphone? If so think again as you’ve seriously missed the mark I’m afraid.
Sorry I totally wrote that out wrong. I meant that it would be ideal for a family who you wouldn’t want to spend loads of money on. Like a wife or child. I do know a few women who have better phones than me, so I’m aware they can handle them. Sorry. 🙂
