Sky Sports TV, now for Android too

It’s been available for the iPhone for a while now, but – just in time for the new football season – the Sky Sports TV app has now arrived on Android.

We’ve given it a spin already and.. it REALLY doesn’t like rooted phones by the looks of it…

For rights reasons Sky Sports TV does not support Android devices that have been rooted.

The Samsung Galaxy SIII isn’t on the list (this should be getting Jelly Bean any day soon though, so you wouldn’t have it working long even if it was on the list. We got it working on a Samsung Galaxy Note, and they have a list of officially supported devices below if you want to have a gander and give it a try.

Sky Sports TV is supported on the following Android smartphones running on 2.2 , 2.3 & 4.0 operating systems: HTC Desire, HTC Desire S, HTC Desire HD, HTC Incredible, HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XE, Galaxy Nexus, Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Galaxy S II and Samsung Galaxy Note.

Oh, and if you do have Jelly Bean, look elsewhere.

With this particular app you don’t actually need to be a Sky Sports TV subscriber. Pay £4.99 per month and you get every F1 race, PGA Golf, US Open tennis and lots more … you do have to be in the UK thought.

Phew… I got through all of that without mentioning a VPN. Great news.

Channels included:

Sky Sports 1-4
Sky Sports F1
Sky Sports News
Sky News
ESPN
At The Races
