The iPad mini is here. A 7.9″ 4:3 1024 x 768 display, A5 chip, 5 megapixel rear camera and 1.2 megapixel front camera with a 10 hour battery life. If you’re looking to get one then try Three – they’ve stepped forward to announce that both the iPad mini and the fourth generation iPad arrive on their network.
Three also take a slight swipe at the new 4G network from EE. We revealed yesterday that EE expect an average 4G speed of “between 8-12Mbps”. Now Three are keen to point out that their new DC-HSDPA network will pump out “average speeds of 6-8Mbps”. The new DC-HSDPA technology has a technical standard of 42Mbps, which is double the current 21Mbps HSPA+. By the end of this year the new DC-HSDPA technology, which is confusingly called “4G” by T-Mobile in the USA (even though it isn’t really), will cover 50% of the UK population.
Of course, Three will also be launching full 4G / LTE later next year.
UK, London, 24 October 2012, Three today announced that in the coming weeks it will offer iPad mini and fourth generation iPad. Three will offer these new iPads with a range of attractive data plans that will allow customers to connect to its Ultrafast network, planned to cover almost 50% of the UK population by the end of the year with average speeds of 6-8 Mbps.
