You like the Xperia Z, but somehow.. you want a little more. Well, if you’re prepared to switch to O2, you can get the new Sony handset from February. O2 have an exclusive here too – the only way to get a purple one in your pocket is through the network, and they’ll be carrying the black version also.
The Xperia Z has a full HD (1080×1920 pixel) 5″ screen with the clever Mobile BRAVIA Engine and a 13 megapixel camera. It’s powered by a quad-core 1.5GHz CPU and has 2GB of RAM. The dust and water resistant handset is powered by Android 4.1.

So will the black one will be available on other networks from February? I do hope so. These network exclusives are never a good thing for consumers, as they tend to be less competitive when you can’t just “get one somewhere else”.
Yeah, I’m not entirely sure what they hope to achieve with this kind of thing – maybe it’s a demand limitation thing. I could understand it with the iPhone – sort of, as at the time the supply didn’t meet the demand. Can’t imagine that will happen with this phone, as lovely as it looks, simply as there is so much choice out there at the moment.
I am so curious to see what a 5 inch 1080p screen looks like – that’s totally mad. Surely you get to a stage where resolution at that scale simply makes no difference at all? Nevertheless, it’s just cool isn’t it. I think Sony have to be onto a winner here simply because of features like water and dust resistance, let alone it’s awesome power. I have a feeling this might be my next phone.
