We reviewed the HTC Hero some months back and generally jumped up and down declaring it to be the best thing since beer. This was an Android handset with extra juice – the HTC Sense interface. Full drag-and-drop customization, fluid interfaces and an app-store brimming with goodies.
Enter the HTC Tattoo. Like the Hero it’s Android (although version 1.6 this time), and like the Hero there’s WiFi, GPS, a G-Sensor, digital compass, Bluetooth 2.0 and connectivity a-plenty with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and dual-band HSDPA / WCDMA. This one is a little cheaper though (£279.99 unlocked), and there’s a slightly smaller resistive screen instead of the capacitive one on the Hero. There’s also a 3.2 megapixel cam (instead of 5) but you do get an added extra on the Tattoo – an FM radio.
However, we’ve found something a little concerning. Watch the video to find out why this device is totally different to the Hero, and why Android developers need to stand up and take action..
