The details for the first quarter of this year show that demand for the 4G network seems to be in line with company expectations.
The 4G section has been in operation for five months now and, with 318,000 customers using the shiny new masts, they’re looking to hit their own target of one million by year’s end.
More than 1600 “small and medium sized” business are using the 4G network, which will hit 70% population coverage by the end of this year. EE are about to crank up speeds even further in 10 cities to around 20Mbps.

Today EE, the most advanced digital communications company in Britain, releases its results for the First Quarter to 31 March 2013.
The results confirm EE is seeing strong 4G take-up as it makes good progress focusing on high value segments.
EE has achieved strong demand for superfast 4G services and extended its network leadership position

– More than 1,600 medium and large companies using 4G
– Double-speed 4G available in 10 cities by the end of June 2013; and over 70% population to have 4G coverage by the end of 2013
EE has maintained a solid commercial performance and is successfully attracting high value customers and retaining existing customers

– Steady underlying service revenue performance -0.4%
– Growing underlying ARPU; blended mobile ARPU +2.2%
– Data monetisation strategy validated with postpaid smartphone penetration up 11 ppts yoy to 82% and non-voice revenues up 6 ppts yoy to 51% of ARPU
– Low postpaid customer churn of 1.2%, the eighth consecutive quarter at 1.2% or below.
An independent survey of EE 4G customers commissioned by EE also reveals how 4G is changing peoples’ mobile internet habits, including:
· 37% say they use less or no public Wi-Fi since getting 4G
· 1 in 5 say they using their home broadband less
· 42% say they are downloading more apps on the go
· 1 in 4 say they are using more online banking services
· 1 in 5 B2B customers say they are saving money
EE are shooting themselves in the foot. I have just upgraded to the HTC One, the same value contract per month would of cost me nearly another £100 more for the same phone on EE, so I am still on “Orange”.
I’m no expert but they look awful numbers……
