The Nokia Lumia 920 is a great device, it is also the most expensive Windows Phone device and yet it has appeared at the top of the list of Windows Phone devices.
So where do these facts come from? Well adduplex are a company who help Windows Phone app developers add adverts to there apps, you may have seen mentions of adduplex in the advert somewhere. Each month adduplex collate all of there data for the previous month and make some nice pie charts. They allow us to see trends within the market.
The first and main chart is this one showing the percentage of different devices.
Apparently the Luia 920 only just edged past the Lumia 800. It is interesting that no other Windows Phone 8 devices come close, only the Lumia 620 and 820 get close. I guess Nokias marketing has done the trick, people it seems on really want Nokia devices.
The next chart pretty much backs up that fact, with Nokia making 80% of Windows Phone devices. Now that is a lot, but thinking about it the others don’t really put their all into it. It makes me worry a bit though, what will happen in a few years time? Will the smaller brands even bother anymore? Will it just become Nokia and no one else making Windows Phones, that would be a good situation for Microsoft.
The final chart of interest is this one it shows how Windows Phone 7 and Windows Phone 8 are split. Interesting really I’d have thought Windows Phone 8 would be the larger portion.
