EE have just announced new 30 day rolling SIM-only contracts here in the UK. The new plans will allow access to the 4G network without the long commitment.
Customers can then try 4G to see how it works for them and sign up to a longer deal with a handset later on.
As with every other deal on EE, the 30 day plans come with completely unlimited calls and texts so customers just need to pick a suitable data allowance without fear of going over.
The new deals offered on 30 day SIM-only are as follows…..
Although costing £63 a month, it is nice to see the larger 20GB plan offered without a long commitment
Simeon Bird, Director of Propositions at EE, said: “It’s our ambition to provide consumers with the most comprehensive range of 4GEE plans possible. With these new 30-day options, we’re pleased to be providing an even more flexible way to access 4G.”
In addition to superfast speeds, EE customers will also benefit from:
· EE Film – the UK film service that combines 2 for 1 cinema ticketing, listings, trailers, film downloads and streaming in one place
· A discount of £5 per month on EE superfast Fibre Broadband – so they can get blistering speeds at home and on the move
4G from EE is the first and only superfast 4G mobile service in the UK, and will cover 98% of the UK’s homes and businesses by the end of 2014. Double-speed 4G will be introduced to the following ten cities by summer: Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Sheffield.
Hmm, now this IS interesting. Very good idea, definitely going to sign up for a month or two when the ‘ Double-speed 4G’ come to London, see what all the fuss is about. Should be very interesting…
£23 minimum seems more than a bit pricey to me for 500mb data on a sim only deal. For all intents and purposes texts and calls have been practically unlimited for years for the vast majority of customers anyway, so I’m not taking that into account. Knock £10 off of each one and we’re getting there. Wouldn’t even consider these. My current plan offers me 5GB of data and I pay £20.99 a month. O.k its 3G but I haven’t really got any cause for complaint speed wise.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not advocating this as a great (or even good) deal but I am saying it’s a good idea for those of us who’ve never tried 4G at all, let alone for several weeks, and who are curious about its supposed benefits. I think it’s a smart way to get people to try it, those who love it can sign up for these (what I have to admit does seem like quite high) prices those who don’t like it have only spent £20-odd quid. Win-win.
Hey, I can see why people want have a go with it and its a cheaper way to try it. I’m not sure what’s expected though? If you have tried your phone on a good wifi connection, its probably a lot like that, but much more expensive.
Yet again EE announce what they think is exciting, customers on the otherhand are looking and thinking…HOW MUCH!
£23 for 500meg, I’d like to give it a go to see how good it will stream a HD video, I’ll be buggered if I’m gonna pay the prices they are asking to try it out though 🙁
I’m going to go for the 1GB deal. A lot of the programs I stream are actually only a couple of hundred mg so I’ll watch 1 or 2 of those, do some other online messing, make some calls etc and return / end the contract within plenty of time. I’m curious enough to give it a punt for £30, can handle one less night in the pub one month of the year…
Ah, I’m just a miserable old scrote who wants something for nothing 😉
Hehe, show me someone who doesn’t… 🙂
I just wish they would do the roaming contracts on sim only
