Windows 8. Best described by shoving something where the sun doesn’t shine

Windows 8. Best described by shoving something where the sun doesnt shine
We saw yesterday how Microsoft have taken a rather strange approach to advertising.

Their comparison video put the Galaxy S4 against the Lumia 521. Their angle is that the S4 is pretty costly and the Lumia 521 is cheaper (perhaps “budget” or “value” or “entry level” is a better description). Anyhow, they then show the stuff you could buy with the money you’d have left over if you bought the Lumia.

That Lumia, by the way, has a 5 megapixel camera, 4″ 480×800 pixel screen, 8GB internal storage and dual-core 1GHz CPU. Meanwhile the S4 has a 13 megapixel camera, 5″ 1920×1080 Full HD Super AMOLED screen, 16GB (or 32GB or 64GB) of internal storage and a quad-core 1.9GHz CPU.

So, they’re basically comparing apples with pumpkins. It’s like saying..

“You don’t want that Audi R8 V10, you should save money and get this Dacia Sandero. It’s just as good, promise. Oh, and with the money you save you can buy this lovely detached home in Oxford.”

Hmm.. actually that’s a pretty good example. I’d love a house in Oxford. That’d be pretty nice actually..

Soooo… after that Windows Phone effort I can imagine the PR team were sitting down to plan an amazing Windows 8 advert. The OS, which now has a button in version 8.1 which doesn’t actually do what you want it to do, is all about multitasking ….apparently. So what better … what better than some guys with ping-pong bats shoved up their backsides?

THAT’LL DO IT !!!

Right.. I’d better be off so that I can put an offer in on that house.

Wait a minute.. do I really want to save money? Should I buy an ultra cheap car just so I can live in a big house? Or do I want the more expensive option? Well… this will help you decide..

Boom. Who needs a house?
