Samsung have their core ranges of products and the Galaxy Tab range seems to have been around since the beginning of time Android. The original Galaxy Tab came out at a time when when Android tablets didn’t really exist. Nowadays Android are everywhere, some days I can’t move without tripping over one.
Samsung have announced two new devices in the Galaxy Tab range. The Tab 8 inch and the Tab 10.1 inch. For me the Tab 3 8 inch is the most interesting as it is the most mobile.
Spec wise the 8 inch model is targeting the cheaper end of the market.

Exceptional Reading and Entertainment Experience: Designed to be held in one hand, the new Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch is the optimal device for viewing videos, playing enhanced games, and reading e-Books anytime, anywhere. Samsung’s “reading mode” technology is effective and allows for maximum screen use. Optimising the display to deliver perfect illumination and for comfortable paper-like reading in a variety of lighting conditions. Samsung’s Sound Alive and Dolby Surround Effect maximise every sound and allows you to enjoy clearer dialogue, consistent volume levels, and superior audio. The physical keys on the bottom of the device also gives you a comfortable smartphone-like experience when navigating.
Enhanced Smart Usability: Making travel and discovery effortless, the Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch features the S Translator, which provides instant translation through voice recognition and via text on applications including email, text message, and ChatON. This instant translation works both from speech-to-text and text-to-speech, ensuring that you can communicate with ease when traveling internationally. The Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch also includes WatchOn, which turns your tablet into a virtual TV remote by syncing with your local service provider and allowing wireless control for television viewing. Intuitive features such as Story Album and Group Play gives you more ways to share and enjoy music, photos, documents, and games with those around you instantly.
The Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 inch model is more of a traditional style tablet. I personally couldn’t use another tablet at this size, the optimised apps are few and far between.
The spec of the 10.1 model is a bit higher, but on a par with the other really.

So two non descript tablets from Samsung, I’m guessing that they’re using the Note 10.1 2 as the higher spec tablet this year. If it even exists. But both models having 3G is intriguing, maybe one day I’ll get a 3G tablet.
The tab 3 10.1 isn’t that much better than my original. Mine has exactly the same ram and screen resolution 32gb on board storage just no sd card slot (although I have got the sd card reader accessory) and only a dual core integra 2 processor. It does look like Samsung have down graded the range like u said to make the notes the top of the range. To compete with the Sony Z tab. I personally want either the Sony or possibly the hp slatebook x2 as like the 10.1 format especially for watching tv/video
