Install Windows Phone 8 on it of course. Before you all get cross I’m kidding here, yes I’d like a Windows Phone version of the HTC One but I doubt it would be better.
Neowin have been tipped off by a source that HTC is currently working on a device very similar to the HTC One that will run Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update. The important thing about this update is that it brings support for 1080p screens and quad core processors. It also won’t really be around until the end of the year.
The source didn’t reveal screen size or anything about the camera, although it makes sense that HTC would want to include the UltraPixel technology to attempt to compete with Nokias Pureview.
It’s going to be an exciting time for Windows Phone as by then the next generation Pureview camera will be established and higher spec devices will be available. Personally I’d like to see something about 5-5.5″ running Windows Phone 8, with a decent camera, MicroSD slot and with a huge battery. Something like the rumoured HTC T6 (Max). Especially as no Windows Phone OEM has released a phablet huge phone yet.
So what do you guys think? Should HTC continue with Windows Phone? Do we need a huge phone running Windows Phone? Should I just give up on my fascination with the square tiled OS from Microsoft? Do let us know.

Sounds great as the HTC One is a beautiful piece of hardware – especially love the front facing speakers.
god no – kids and their bloody sodcasting – drives me up the wall….
James…. its T6 Max not Mega….. ( which is Sammy)
Oops. Cheers. Hotel WiFi bandwidth blah blah. Not my fault blah blah. Sorry.
Well, I for one sincerely hope they don’t. I don’t think Microsoft have treated HTC particularly well as a ‘partner’, and besides, they get royalties for every Android device HTC sell too.
Microsoft can do one as far as I’m concerned.
As an ex-iPhone owner, I wanted something different with more flexibility, and only the HTC One gave me the incentive to move. I was looking at the Nokia 920/925 too but the HTC won it for me.
Since owning it I’ve tried “launcher 8” on it for a while to give it that Windows 8 look and feel. Worked pretty well too, except it bleeds the battery dry but I think it gave me a little flavour of Windows 8, and I liked it.
I do like the fact with Android there are many launchers that mimic other operating systems to give us a taster. I’m current using iLauncher, to give it the iPhone feel.
I’m really happy with my HTC One, especially the hardware, and I personally would like to see this phone available running Windows. At least that way, you’re buying the HTC for its hardware capabilities, and have the choice of which OS you run on it.
Tempted as i was by the HTC One, i have been waiting for the Windows Phone version, so i too hope the rumours are true!
Unlike you though, 4.3″ is quite large enough thank you! My 8X is almost perfect – I’m happy with it, and only Ultrapixel & a metal body would tempt me to change; as long as its the same size!
