There has been something missing from stock Android since the very beginning.
Many many times I have seen people ask for the inclusion of auto complete for the dialler but the calls have always gone unheeded.
Until now.
This option doesn’t appear to be turned on by default and as Google haven’t been shouting from the rooftops about the new features within 4.3, here is a quick guide showing how to enable Auto Complete for the stock Android Dialler.
Firstly, open the dialler and select the menu in the bottom right hand corner…..
Next, tick the box that says Dial Pad Autocomplete
Press the back button to return to the Dialler, start to type the name of someone in your address book and…..
Hey presto, one of the much needed and requested features finally appears.
A very simple feature that should make anyone that uses the stock dialler rather happy!!
Ah, very nice. Couldn’t work out why it only was only showing one phone number for my wife (instead of home, work, mobile etc.) Seems there’s a ‘default’ number it selects.
If you press and hold on the person, a window pops up with ALL their numbers. It also says ‘remember this choice’ if you want the default to change from work to mobile etc.
This is the reason I ditched the stock dialer for exDialer.
