According to Samsung Updates the Galaxy Tab 2 7″ is starting to get an update to 4.2.2 flavour of Jelly Bean. Well the 3G version in France is at least but it should mean that it will shortly be rolling out to the UK and the wifi only version shouldn’t be too far behind.
The update includes such features as lock screen widgets, new widgets that appeared first on the S4 and a dedicated notification panel within the status bar. So not a massive change but nice to see mid-range devices getting a taste of what was until a few weeks ago the newest version of Android.
For those of you who have a S3 or Note 2 and are feeling left out, don’t worry you will be getting an update but it will be straight to 4.3 skipping 4.2.2.
You can get the update either through connecting the tablet to a computer and using the KIES software or as an over the air update (settings – about tablet – software update) when it becomes available.
Let us know in the comments below if you’ve got the update.
