The new HTC Wildfire S looks, if we’re honest, pretty similar to the existing HTC Wildfire. The new version is a little lighter (105 grams instead of 118) and the optical trackball has completely vanished. The screen resolution has been increased from 240×320 QVGA to a 320×480 pixel version but there’s still the familiar 3.2″ screen size and that tiny “chin” at the bottom of the phone.
Other than that it’s all pretty similar. The Wildfire S has a 600MHz CPU, the previous model had 528MHz, it gets 512MB RAM instead of 384MB and a slightly different battery – 1230mAh instead of the 1300mAh in the Wildfire. The 5 megapixel shooter remains (with flash and auto focus), as does the 3.5mm audio jack, microSD slot, G-Senor, digital compass, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS and 3G connectivity. There’ll be a variety of colours available and it’ll have the HTC Sense interface.
Come on HTC, can we have our optical trackball back please? 🙂
The original Wildfire casing was part plastic part metal – is this the same or is this version all plastic?
