I’m joining pretty much every other Smartphone website by adding my support, publicity and money toward the Tsunami Fund which is being handled by the Disasters Emergency Committee. The DEC consists of many agencies, including the British Red Cross, Oxfam, Christian Aid, World Vision, Action Aid and many others. BT have kindly set up a site to handle donations and it’s one of the quickest and easiest ways to help. It takes seconds and please don’t forget to hit the “Gift Aid” button too so that the Government give tax money to charity too – it’s worth an extra 28p for every pound, at no extra cost to you.
The Tsunami probably didn’t register fully when it was shown on Boxing Day. The first images we got were from Hotels with swimming pools being over-filled, however if you check out images such as this satellite time-lapse photo it really does hit home.

Note: Gift Aid can only be added to donations made by people paying UK income or capital gains tax. For other agencies in your local country, please click “Read More” to see a fuller worldwide list.
