A few weeks ago LG sort of announced the three new sizes in their G-Pad range. A smaller 7″ model alongside the expected 8″ model and a larger 10″ model. The strange thing was that they didn’t give us any specs or much detail at all. Having had hands on with these new tablets at the G3 launch event I can see why, as quite a bit of the software from the G3 is on the tablets.
Anyhow, they’ve finally released the specs and further details for the tablets. Let’s have a look.
The three new G Pad devices offer just the right balance of performance, personality and price to fill the gap between entry and premium tablets. All three tablets will offer a 1.2 GHz Quad-Core processor, 1GB RAM and a True IPS HD display (1280 x 800), housed in a stylish and ergonomic body in five different colors — Black, White, Red, Luminous Orange and Luminous Blue. With their rounded edges, the tablets are designed to be held comfortably with one hand.
All three models are made of plastic, in a kind of Nokia esq one piece kind of way. No metal like last year unfortunately and spec wise some of the models are a little lacking, no doubt to compete with the cheaper end of the tablet market. For me the standout model was the largest 10″ model, which has a slightly higher spec.

All round as you can see they are pretty basic spec devices. So we can expect cheap prices, in use they all felt ok. Not quite as smooth as my LG G Pad 8.3 from last year. Software wise they all have a lot going on, what with the new KitKat ROM features from the G3, such as the new keyboard, Dual Window and Q Pair 2.0. Personally I’d be happy with the larger one just to take on holiday or use as a media hub.
At the LG G3 launch event I did get hands on with the new G Pads and here are some hands on shots with them.
